Ministry of Presence

Ministry of presence is ministry without words.  When you roll up your sleeve and meet people where they are at, there will be times in which you are left without answers.  Words may fail but your presence speaks volumes.

Life hits people hard and in seemingly unfair ways.  When God’s goodness or sovereignty is called into REAL question by people.  There are times when our best answers lack sufficient depth.  In difficult moments we make ourselves present and reject shrinking back or sitting on the sideline.

Sometimes it’s best to initiate and act in Christ’s love with no talking.  We support others by being physically present when they need someone to lean on.  In these moments we assume the posture of God’s shoulder and inwardly call to mind the love of Christ. We actively trust him and the holy spirit to begin the process of healing.

In this moment of simply drawing near and being present, we exercise trust that God will do something greater than our words can accomplish.

Perhaps God will provide a future opportunity to talk. Maybe God will bring along a better person to speak at a better time.  Perhaps God will talk through someone else that they would receive better.

We focus on embracing small moments of obscurity.  God honors effort made in his name and there is a peace when a small fraction of your time is invested in the Kingdom of God.  Setting aside your agenda and embracing God’s people in a moment of need is what being a “Living Sacrifice” is all about.

Let’s not only worship on Sunday morning with a song of praise, but worship by extending ourselves to our neighbor in Christ’s love.
